Points for growth in Belarus-Moldova relations pointed out

Natalya Kochanova

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – There are points for growth in many areas of Belarus-Moldova relations. Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova made the statement as she met with the outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Moldova to Belarus Victor Sorocean, BelTA has learned.

Natalya Kochanova said: “I am glad to welcome you in the Council of the Republic. Unfortunately, the meeting has been prompted by the end of your mission in our country. In any case you remain a good friend of Belarus. First of all, I’d like to mention the level of friendly relations that has evolved between our countries and the constructive dialogue at the top level and the high one. It certainly has a lot to do with your work.”

In her words, the ambassador has accomplished a lot during his stay in Belarus. Visits of the presidents of Belarus and Moldova have been held. Speakers of the parliaments have met this year. Belarus-Moldova trade turnover increased in January-July 2021 despite the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are grateful for the erection of a monument to our compatriot Francysk Skaryna in Chisinau,” the speaker of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament noted. “We count on continuing the same constructive cooperation. We are ready to cooperate. Our countries and nations need it. We have points for growth in trade, economy, and the social sphere. We count on your continued aid and support. We’ve always felt you are the kind of person that treats our country and people in a good way.”

Victor Sorocean thanked Natalya Kochanova for agreeing to receive him. He said it had been a pleasure to work in Belarus with all branches of the government and accomplish serious tasks. “I’ve always known I have support here,” he said.
