Belarus, Venezuela plan to restart bilateral projects in construction, industry

MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Venezuela plan to restart bilateral projects in construction and industry, Venezuela president’s special envoy Adan Chavez Frias told the media in Minsk on 7 October, BelTA has learned.

“We held a very important meeting with President Lukashenko, discussed a number of issues regarding our joint activities. We reaffirmed our commitment to supporting each other. We agreed to restart those projects that we implemented earlier, and outlined new areas of cooperation: in energy, mining, technology, and agriculture,” Adan Chavez Frias said.

According to him, a Belarusian delegation is expected to travel to Venezuela by the end of the year. The main focus will be on trade and economic cooperation. We will take stock of the existing projects and map out new ones. “This will give an additional impetus to those projects that we implemented before and to outline new areas of bilateral cooperation,” Adan Chavez Frias said. “Thus, we continue to stand together, as we did before. Our relations will grow event stronger as we counter the attacks of the hegemony of the Western countries by joint efforts,” he said.

Among the most significant bilateral projects Adan Chavez mentioned the industrial machine-building complex developed by Belarusian specialists in the state of Barinas. “Our main goal is to restart his industrial complex which produces tractors, trucks and road construction machinery,” the special envoy said.

Housing construction is very important for Venezuela. In previous years, Belarusian builders were quite active in helping Venezuela with the matter. “We also want to relaunch the projects to build agro-towns designed with Belarus’ support. Three agro-towns have been designed in total, and one project has been implemented so far. We are planning to give these projects a new lease on life,” said Adan Chavez.

As BelTA reported, Adan Chavez Frias is currently paying a visit to Belarus. He is set to meet with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova and Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Vladimir Andreichenko. The special representative of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is expected to deliver a lecture “Ideas of Bolivar and Chavez today” at Belarusian State University. Adan Chavez Frias is also set to take part in a ceremony to open the Transatlantic Art Message exhibition at the National Library of Belarus.

Adan Chavez visited Belarus in October 2017 as part of the government delegation accompanying Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro.
