Head of the Presidential Sports Club Dmitry Lukashenko and Executive Director of the Belarusian Special Olympics Committee Larisa Tabolina took part in the ceremony to sign the document at the headquarters of the Presidential Sports Club on 20 October.

“Our cooperation has already been going on for some time and with the signing of this document it will rise to a qualitatively new level. The main purpose is to have the Presidential Sports Club engaged in the organization of the events that will let us implement the main objectives of the Special Olympics movement. First of all, it is social rehabilitation of children with disabilities, teaching them healthy lifestyle behaviors and sports skills. It also means development of various programs under the aegis of Special Olympics: volunteer, medical, parental and many other programs of special Olympics movement in our country,” Larisa Tabolina commented on the document signing.

The Belarusian Special Olympics Committee conducts large-scale work on social rehabilitation of people with special needs through sports. Every year the association holds regional and nationwide competitions in football, basketball, table tennis, swimming, athletics and other special Olympic sports. The association also holds training and qualifying competitions to prepare the national team of the Republic of Belarus for the European and international Special Olympics Games.

The Presidential Sports Club advocates for the Special Olympics movement, which makes an invaluable contribution to addressing issues of adaptation for people with intellectual disabilities and building an inclusive world.
