Common energy market should benefit all EAEU members

MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) – When creating the common energy market, it is important to take into account the interests of all members of the Eurasian Economic Union, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting in Minsk on 14 October, BelTA has learned.

The leaders of the EAEU countries are set to adopt one of the key documents of the meeting: the resolution to move to the second stage of the project to set up the common markets for oil and petroleum products. It suggests drafting, by 2023, the rules of trade and exchange trading in these products. By 2024, it is planned to develop an international agreement on the common markets for oil and petroleum products.

“While striving to create a common energy market, we need to take into account the interests of all member states of our union. Only in this way will we be able to ensure its stability and durability,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Belarus associates the future of the EAEU with the full and timely implementation of the strategy for the development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025.

“It is important now to concentrate on the measures outlined in this document. Only in this case, we will be able to set up the full-fledged economic union with the common markets for goods, services, capital and labor resources by 1 January 2025,” the head of state said.
