Belarus prepared to supply passenger, cargo and road-building vehicles to Nicaragua

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – Belarus is prepared to supply passenger, cargo and road-building vehicles to Nicaragua, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the medias following the talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Denis Moncada Colindres of Nicaragua in Minsk on 18 October, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei thanked his colleague, the minister of foreign affairs of Nicaragua for his official visit to the Republic of Belarus. “This is our second meeting in a relatively short period of time, which confirms our mutual willingness to boost bilateral relations. Belarus views Nicaragua as an important political and economic partner in Central America and a reliable ally in the international arena,” Vladimir Makei said.

He said that during the talks, a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed in an open and friendly manner and concrete steps were outlined to expand trade and economic ties between the two countries.

“We consider the ministerial memorandum of understanding to set up a joint commission on trade and economic cooperationб which we signed todayб to be very important and relevant. We have agreed to bolster work of this institutional mechanism and to hold a meeting of the commission in the near future. We also plan to continue and, if necessary, intensify the practice of holding ministerial consultations between Belarus and Nicaragua at the level of deputy ministers,” the minister said.

Vladimir Makei believes that the current level of trade and economic cooperation does not yet fully correspond to the true potential of the two countries, the economies of which are mutually complementary.

“We are prepared to supply Belarusian passenger, cargo and road-building vehicles and machinery to Nicaragua. Belarusian enterprises are ready to participate in Nicaragua’s infrastructure projects. Cooperation in agriculture and food looks very promising, including within the framework of Nicaragua’s national program for the development and restoration of rural regions,” the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs said.
