Belarus’ consulate general in New York to close down on 21 October

MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ consulate general in New York will stop working on 21 October 2021 at the request of the U.S. side, BelTA informs citing the website of the diplomatic mission.
“After the closure of the consulate general, citizens of Belarus residing in the consular district of the consulate general (including Canada) will have to apply for consular services to the Belarusian embassy in the USA,” the statement reads.
Belarusian nationals having an appointment at the consulate general before 15 October inclusive will be able to apply for consular services. After that, the access to the office of the consulate general will not be possible.
Acceptance and processing of documents sent by mail will cease on 8 October. Documents received after 8 October will be forwarded to the Belarusian Embassy in the United States no earlier than 1 November. After 8 October telephone consultations will be unavailable, either.
